National Narayana Seva

Bhagvan Baba has blessed the human being to serve the poor by launching NATIONAL NARAYAN SEVA. The main features of this nationwide service is as under:

1. Each and every member of the samiti to cook food for one more person every day (for eg. if they have 4 regular members of their household they will cook for 5 persons every day) and the food should be served to the poor person.
2. You need to identify a person who is in need of the food - We can send in a word though the servants / maids.
3. The food should be served to that person only
4. No compulsion to do this service as Bhagvan never forces any one
5. No money should be collected for this purpose from any individual
6. Before serving the identified person with the food, offer it to Bhagvan and distribute alongwith vibuthi packet. On the first day , photo of Bhagwan can be distributed.
7. The food should not be purchased from hotel etc. reason being that the individuals should be involved in the process.
8. If we can afford, we can increase the number of food pockets on a daily basis but feeding one person is must.
9. Money should not be handed over to avoid  possible wrong doing by the person who receives.
10. If the person identified has got facilities to cook and is in need of food grains, we can supply that also but have to ensure that the identified person should not misuse the food items by selling it.
11. This is in addition to the Narayan Seva organised at the samiti level.

There are more elaborate circulars received from Puttaparthy but the practice differs from place to place. For eg. as per the circular the food should be cooked by mahilas at the samiti premises but most of the places it may not be feasible.

The main issue is we have to serve the poor. As per Bhagwan Baba, 30% of the world population who is in need of food is from India - which is approx. 30 million.

Bhagvan has really given each one of us one more opportunity to serve the man kind. Interested people can coordinate with the convenor of their respective samities. Most of you must have known this already. If already known, please treat this as one more reminder.

I think the  respective samities should take a call on this but as far as my memory and understanding goes, the new national seva is in addition to the normal narayan seva which is being organised. In the new national narayan seva, we need to identify a particular person and feed that person on an on going basis.

I request you to check up with your samiti and update me on this. Even I will recheck up with my samiti this Saturday when I go for Bhajan and update you on this.

We have started the National Narayan Seva in our samithi from this sunday. We at our samithi prepare the food with the mahila members  and  serve food to the orphanages.
