destroy the sense of self-importance

which eats like a canker the bud of one's pure aspirations.

hello and warm regards to all in the form...

I was reading a book "the power of subconscious mind", which was written by a christian taking slokas from bible, where he mentions several times to imagine the end of a wish or dream of yours as if fulfilling now so that those dreams get registered in the subconscious mind and it shall bring it into reality.

But Bhagawad gita tells to do your work first and leave the results to god, which we have heard several times .

Isnt the 2 great books contradict each other.... this makes for a confusion,, and i dont think the 2 approaches converge .... please discuss or clarify on this subject.

Hi Nitin,

If one were to look at contradictions one can also pick two slokas from Gita itself and prove that Gita talks about contradictory things. Even when Sai Baba says certain things they may appear contradictory at times. But trust that these contradictions are not because we understand them fully, but because we do not understand everything about them.

The path which is good for your may not even suit me and vice versa. But scriptures will always be above such things. They will cater to every individual at every level  so that further progress can be made by the individual.

When we dream, we make progress. We live life, we flourish, we prosper while working towards realising dreams. Without a dream or a desire nothing great was ever achieved in this world. Imagination coupled with desires, expectations of results can be big motivating factors in achieving results.

Action without caring for results is an ideal and that ideal can be achieved only when we transcend desires. We need to own things before giving up. Spirituality can be understood in many ways. Some people will lay emphasis on growing, enriching, enhancing while others will lay emphasis on dropping, giving up, renunciation. Smiley As our understanding develops more we will see that fundamentally there is not much difference in seemingly uncorrelated points either. Smiley
