Beautiful message - A dream on COD (Ceiling On Desires)

Dear Sai brothers and sisters,

Sairam!! I wanted to share a beautiful message that He (our beloved Sai) has sent to me in a dream that I had more than an year ago. Let me give you a little background before I start my dream.

I have a friend whom I really care for and is my best friend. We know each other only for an year (by the time I saw this dream) but I used to think that Swami used him as an instrument to walk in to my life to convey his message. We are very good friends. We used to spend lot of time together nothing but only discussing swami’s teachings, youth service activities and singing bhajans. If everything goes smooth and calm, how can we call this life?

I always used to debate with him that I am a person with no attachments and am far from feelings like greedy, jealousy and sentiments. Swami must have heard these things from me and wanted to test me. He has sent a new friend in to his life and he started spending more time with her. Now I can hardly find him on the weekends if I want to spend some time when I feel lonely. Jealousy filled in my heart all of a sudden that he spends more time with his new friend and used to cry sometimes when I recollect all the incidents happened after the new friend came into his life. My feeling were badly hurt due to some incidents and decided not to talk to him at all. No sooner I realized that it’s all His play to make me aware of how sensitive I am and how these attachments can hurt after seeing a beautiful dream.

In my dream,

I was sitting in a big crowd of devotees waiting for swami for his darshan. Unfortunately, Swami didn’t come that day for darshan but has sent his beloved speaker to convey his message to everyone. The speaker began his talks and ended on the topic ‘ceiling on desires’. He started asking some questions related to this topic. I felt so happy that I read the book ‘Ceiling on desires’ by Phyllis Krystal and can answer any question.

He started,

“Can anyone explain what things does swami emphasize when he talks about ceiling on desires (COD)?”

Lot of devotees raised their hands and I am also one in that group who raised hands. Fortunately I am the youngest in the group and he picked me and asked me to explain what I know about COD.

I started explaining with my knowledge on COD.

“Swami always says don’t waste time, energy, money and food. Put a ceiling on desires or they go through the roof and cause troubles. Controlling your senses, and with inner view, one can find peace and contentment. “

He said, “Very good” and continued with his questions to the crowd. The speaker finished his talks and the crowd dispersed with disappointment that they couldn’t see swami that day.

The person called me after the crowd dispersed.

He said to me

“My dear child let me tell you one secret. Today swami was supposed to talk about a fifth element in COD adding to the rest of the 4 elements. He discussed with me this morning and nobody else knows this. Do you know what that is?”

I was so surprised and anxious to hear about the fifth element in COD and started guessing to my self. He said, “Don’t waste tears, tears are so valuable. You have to place a ceiling on your wishes that will hurt you and make you shed tears. He knows what you need in your life and which is best for you. When you throw out the attachments from your house (heart), they will take their friends called tears from your house along with them and your house will be a moving temple.”

Also added, “Swami is going to ask this question to the crowd when he comes for next darshan. You should be able to answer and impress swami ” I left the place with excitement looking forward for the next darshan to answer swami’s question and impress Him.

I woke up in the morning with a clear mind and heart filled with immense pleasure. I thanked swami for sending his instruments to make me realize this and fill peace and joy that’s missing from couple of days.

I completely stopped thinking of all these things that happened with my friend. Swami says “How can you love god if you cannot love the fellow human being?” I do still care for him even he completely ignores me. I believe that all these incidents have given me great strength to my spiritual journey and made me bother the least for such things. From then, I started a journal and write to Swami what ever I want to share with my friends whenever I am happy or I am down and certain things that cannot share with anyone else. Because He is my Mother, my Father, my Friend and my Teacher.
