How did you come to know about Sathya Sai Baba ?

So do share your tale here as to how you got to know about SAI or how you got attracted towards SAI (or how SAI drew you towards Him)
and we are all eager to hear.

Hello Ashok,

when I was studying in the university, I had a classmate who was from India. He mentioned something about Sai baba but I did not pay attention. I thought he was just a spiritual teacher in India. Years later when I was attending a class about meditation, again another guy from India told me about Sai baba and there was a girl also who told me that she had gone to India to visit him but again I just listened and I did not pay any attention at all. After a while, one day when I was going to pick up my son from his friend's house, I waited outside for him but he didn't come out. So, I had to get out of the car and ring the bell to see where he is. The grandmother of the boy showed up at the door. That day I was so upset and there was a problem in my life that I had to deal with and I was so sad. When she asked me to go in the house, I don't know why I opened up myself to her and I started crying. She talked to me and she said that she was a sai baba devotee for many years and she gave me a picture of swami and a book , " man of miracles" by Howard Murphet. This lady was from Spain and she told me about her story and how she met sai baba and how he helped her through so many difficulties in her life. I came home and I read the book and I became so fascinated with baba and I started to buy other books about him and I became his devotee as well. I hope one day, I will be able to go to India and see him but even if that does not happen, I know that he is with me all the time !

I'm new meaning about 5 years since I understood what this life is all about. It's my wife one day she said come I want to take you to a place. And we went. Wow! it (Colombo Sai center) seemed very peaceful. After that I started doing research by my self.

My first hunt was for information who is this Sai Baba? you may think that I was out of my mind but I got in to a auto and told just go we were near a lot of houses. some how I went to the house directly in front of me and asked Is there a Sai baba Center any where here? Amazing to my knowledge he said I'll tell you about Sai Baba. He gave me some books and I was alomost about to cry because it was like I had seen Sai baba him self.

After that I did my reading understood a lot of things. and became a member of the seva dal. Even today I'm a member of the seva dal.  I have only gone 1 time to see this wonderful person. That too was in White field, Bangalore. I didn't get to speak to Bagawan but yes I saw that wonderful sight. Wow! Now I know why people thrive to see him. After about a week long darshan went back. Some day I want to go to Putarpathi.

Aum Sai Ram. I was in 3rd year at university when I started believing in Satya Sai Baba. My Gujerati friend Sohini was a believer of Shirdi Sai. She used to often speak to me about her belief. She even lent me a movie about Shirdi Sai. I then started visting websites on Shirdi Sai. I then started visiting websites about Satya Sai Baba. I became very absorbed in thoughts of Satya Sai Baba. I then printed pictures of him and started my worship. That is my story on how I became a devotee of Satya Sai Baba. Thank you for posting such a special and wonderful topic. From Aradhana.

Hello Ashok....being very much involved with and by spirit (people) all my life, and having many wonderful and enlightening experiences, bad ones as well, I have always kept Jesus in my heart as my one and only. I drifted around from one spiritual circle to another (seances) and never could I find the right one that I've been searching for, as there were many very egotistic people which in the end did force me to leave to go in search for another. Little did I know at that time that it wasn't spiritual circles I was searching for, but God Himself. One day I prayed with all sincerity, Please Lord, I have been searching for such a long time, lead me to the right one where I can develop properly and where I can offer it to YOU. (or something along those lines.) Next day there was an add in the news paper offering psychic development for anyone interested. I phoned and gave my details and answered why I was interested. A few days later I received a phone call saying I was invited to come along. Thats when I saw Sathya Sai Baba on the wall in an oil painting which at first glance took my breath away. At that first instance I never knew what had happened to me, I was unprepared for what was to happened next. Something inside me gave way, or broke in two, something till this day I cannot explain but I think what it was, was the collapse of all my beliefs, old beliefs, all that which I thought was true. That was in 1988 and not only have I come closer to Jesus, but had wonderful meetings with him along with Zoroaster, Buddha, Moses, Mary, Seraphyms and archangels, St John, St Francis, and the list goes on and on. Truly I am amazed and humbled from the love that awaits us all. And on top of all this, I have found through Baba's grace that HE is the ONE above the ALL, there is no other but HE. As we begin to realise this we then discover that we too one day will stand on the same threshold as Jesus and all the others who have climbed the ladder of evolution, and we will know without doubt that they are our brothers and sisters who are ever so close to this earth plane waiting to offer their help, their love and understanding if only we try. And the very first thing we must start doing is (correcting ourselves) rid the negative qualities that we harbour inside. We can do this if we lean more towards Baba, when Baba sees we are trying HE then steps in to give help. Om Sai Ram

I came to know about sathya sai baba when i was probably 10 year old boy.My mother's friend bagya aunty was a devotee(she is with him in heaven),she along with some of my mother's friends and all my cousins brother went to tour to sai baba..It was really a peaceful and enjoying experience... the bhajans that were sung really made us to be in heaven... still remember there were foreign tourists there.and one of them probably a cheeni just lifted me and seated beside him.. i along with my brother went for morning prayers as boys were not allowed in ladies prayer place...I used to get up late but wanted to get up early as the one in the front row was given a token...One day i got up early but still could not make up to the front row ... Even baba did not take the letter that we wrote ..now i feel there were many other people who had much worse problem or might had more beautiful letter to give ...the food was really good ... ice cream was really nice... I think the demise of my grand mother and bagya aunty made me hallow but i know that every one has to depart from this world one day and this is the law of sai baba.The recent technological advancement (proclaimed) of prolonging age to 500 years is really against the law of nature .Now i really wish to come to putparthi o baba please make me come towards you, help me in my work help me complete my mtech after i complete my mtech that will be the ultimate point of my life help me secure that...  I love you baba show your affection towards me and all my fellow living creatures as you say if you just put water to the roots the water gets supplied to all the leaves branches etc.

I still dont know. Can really not say. He Was there all the time. I do know about a dream i had when i was about 6 years old. I can remember it was not the Swami I had in my dream.This man held my hand and was walking with me. He said if i follow the teachings and obey the Lord I will get everything. The building in my dream was that of the leaning tower of pizza but what i very much remember is it was desert like. sand and rocks. no plants. I now know that GOD have choosen me for a reason. I was reborn in this earth for something only Swami knows.
Whish I can recall where i first got to hear about our Lord on earth but i truely cant recall.
Thanks GOD for the privalige to know HIM. I can now also say I am one of the people who knew JESUS personally. If ONLY I could touch the hem of his Garment but better still. "selfish" bow my head in front of my GOD and shake his hand.

Hi All,

I came to know about Sathya Sai baba from my friend who got the book and information from one of her relative.
She was reading Tapovanam those days and one day she told me about our beloved Sathya Sai Baba and his miracles.
I was really surprised to know that God is present in the form of human among us.
Last month only i got to know this.
The stories told by her made me curious to read the book. But the book was in Kannada.
I belong to Rajasthan and i don't know Kannada. I tried searching for the book in various book stores but didn't find Tapovanam. But i got one book named "The Splendour of Sri Sathya Sai Baba' by NBS Rama Rao. I started reading that and  still continued search for Tapovanam.One day I was searching on net and i came across this forum.
I had seen a post from a guy who was asking for Tapovanam on web then Ashok replied him that he will post the book to him. So i contacted him and i am really thankful that he posted the book to me and i got it on Thursday..

As a little boy,when i done something i thought was wrong and that i have trouble at home because,i recited the prayer that was itself developed in my mind.It was a prayer to the Divine Mother that no one has taught me since i grew up in an "atheist" family.What thrilled me was it that my secret prayer always helped if i would repeat it 3,6 or 9 times.At that time i knew nothing about Guru`s and spiritual path (Sadhana) but subconscious i have often received flashes of images which i only now i know what they mean.I remember that i saw on the tv a "strange wearing" Indian who enters into a big red car.This image is deeply engraved in my memory.I`m not sure who it was but lately in the following years i met with a teachings of Osho Rajneesh and Swami Kriyananda.But to shorten this story,finally when i was about 14 i fell in love with a girl who introduce me to the fact that in India live Avatar Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.She gave me a picture of Baba which even now have a central place at my altar.Om Sri Sai Ram to all brothers and sisters all around the globe.
